The Process

How the Process Works

Every family and situation is unique, but effective placement typically follows four key phases. At Haven Family Solutions, I guide you through each one with clarity, compassion, and expertise.

STEP 1

Assessment

Before making any recommendations, I take the time to fully understand your situation—looking closely at both individual needs and the broader family dynamic.

This includes reviewing existing documentation, interviewing professionals involved in care, and identifying any gaps that may require formal testing or further evaluation.

This is the foundation for identifying the right outpatient services and level of care at home or in a treatment program- not just finding a program that can work, but one that truly fits

What to expect during this phase:
  • A comprehensive review of academic, emotional, and behavioral needs

  • Insightful interpretation of reports, diagnoses, and history

  • Input from trusted providers and educators (when applicable)

  • A clear picture of what kind of support will be most effective

During this phase, I:
  • Research and vet options based on clinical fit, philosophy, and outcomes

  • Leverage direct relationships with trusted programs and providers

  • Filter out marketing noise and focus on what’s right for you

  • Present tailored recommendations aligned with your goals

STEP 2

Research

Once I've built a full picture of your needs, we dive in together to identify the best next steps—whether that’s developing a comprehensive home plan with outpatient services and parent coaching, a therapeutic program, or an educational setting.

This is where clarity starts to take shape.

STEP 3

Placement & Action

Once we’ve identified the right course of action, I help you take the next steps with confidence.

This may include a home treatment plan or additional testing, a summer intensive, educational remediation, a short-term stabilization program (expedited if you are in crisis) or moving directly into a longer-term therapeutic placement or transition program.

This is where forward movement begins.

In this phase, we:
  • Help you develop a detailed action plan

  • Coordinate admissions

  • Personally recommend therapists or specialists within the selected program

  • Support you in preparing your child or young adult for the transition

Support includes:
  • Regular review of progress reports

  • Communication with program staff and therapists

  • Parent coaching and guidance

  • Advocacy, if challenges arise

  • Assistance with planning for next steps and transitions

STEP 4

Ongoing Monitoring & Support

A home plan or therapeutic placement isn’t the end of the journey—it’s just one part of it. I remain actively involved to ensure your child and family is progressing and your family is supported throughout the process.

I am here for you.

A Word of Caution to Parents

Choosing the right placement isn’t as simple as searching online or flipping through a brochure. Many programs look impressive on the surface—but behind the marketing, not all are a good fit.

As a parent, you’re already carrying the emotional weight of this decision. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, rushed, or unsure.

Here’s why working with Haven Family Solutions matters:

With the right support, you can make informed, confident decisions that lead to meaningful change—for your child and your family.
